This juvenile male (above left) and teneral form male (above right) were just two of many sitting on low lying vegetation around ponds at Windmill Farm Nature Reserve on The Lizard in Cornwall.
Insight into Blue-tailed Damselfly (Ischnura elegans): one of the commonest damselflies in the UK, it adapts quickly to changing water conditions, readily colonising new waters.
The colours of both sexes are variable and the blue band on the last but one abdominal segment of some female forms is absent.
