Some sun at last encouraged several caterpillars to show yesterday at Polly Joke on the north Cornish coast.
3 Scarlet Tiger caterpillars were sunning themselves on nettle leaves, 2 Drinker Moth caterpillars were on bramble leave and 2 Fox moth caterpillars were crossing the grass paths.
Other early caterpillars are featured in the Moth Caterpillar gallery.
Perhaps the highlight of the trip came during the drive when a Brimstone butterfly flew across the road close to the A30 on the edge of Truro. Other butterflies are featured in the British butterfly gallery
