Marazion Diver

A summer plumaged Great Northern Diver, Gavia immer was seen at the weekend on a pool at Long Rock, Marazion, near Penzance, Cornwall.

These really are smart looking birds in comparison to the winter plumaged Great Northern Divers that are more frequently seen around the Cornish coastline.

The winter plumaged bird shown below was photographed last winter in Newlyn Harbour during a really cold snap.

Maybe, birds can sense stormy weather coming well before us!

With the forecast storms about to hit Cornwall within the next 48 hours this summer plumaged bird seems to have made the right decision to come inshore and feed in sheltered pools
