Well, perhaps not strictly accurate, as Black-headed Gulls, Larus ridibundus, are one of the most common Gulls in Cornwall.
But when was the last time a summer plumaged Black- headed Gull was seen standing on ice on Swanpool Lake, Falmouth in the week following Easter?
This water is partially brackish and so is less likely to freeze than fresh water. However, despite its salt content a thin veil of ice coated it early on Saturday morning.
By mid morning the ice had gone and sun cream was required!
The birds sliding about on the ice appeared as confused as the holiday makers.
