Common British wasps

with No Comments
The most common wasp found in our garden is the Common Wasp. So that’s well named then!

Insight into Common Wasp (Vespula vulgaris): can be identified by a combination of features. There is usually a black anchor like black mark on the face, there are 4 distinctive yellow spots on the back of the thorax, the yellow vertical band behind the eye has a black break in it and the central black bulge in the banding on the abdomen differs to the more pronounced diamond shaped bulge on the German Wasp (Vespula germanica).
