Helston boating lake: Egyptian Goose

with No Comments
An Egyptian Goose has been present on the lake for several days now and is providing an excellent opportunity for bird photographers to practice their techniques in a comfortable setting – hot drinks close by at the cafe!

On our recent visit photographic equipment in use included several extreme telephoto lenses mounted on tripods, one digiscoping (a camera clamped to a telescope) and a broad range of smaller hand held zoom lenses.

This shot was taken using an EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM Canon lens which is my favourite general purpose lens for wildlife.

Insight into Egyptian Goose (Alopochen aegyptiacus): not native to the UK it was originally introduced into waterfowl collections from Africa. It is now a breeding resident in parts of southern England, in particular, Norfolk.
