Migrant moths in Cornwall: The Delicate

with No Comments
The extremely volatile weather systems have continued with some very strong warm southerly winds coming up from the continent. These winds have continued to bring with them migrant moth species although not in the numbers experienced at the start of October.

One species of moth that was blown into the garden moth trap was The Delicate.

Insight into The Delicate (Mythimna vitellina): a fairly common annual migrant to the UK from continental Europe, its main flight time is late summer to November. It is most commonly recorded in the south and south west of the UK.
