British bugs: Cicadella viridis

with No Comments
During an unproductive search for Wasp Spiders at Windmill Farm Nature Reserve on The Lizard in Cornwall a large variety of insects were found including many Cicadella viridis.

Insight into Cicadella viridis: a member of the Leafhopper family (Cicadellidae) it is commonly found between July and October throughout the UK in marshes and damp grasslands.

The bi-coloured pronotum, yellow at the front and green at the rear, distinguishes it from other green leafhopper species.
