Insight into Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus): introduced into the UK probabaly as early as the 11th Century, they are now resident with a widespread breeding population thoughout much of the UK.
Millions are bred and released into the countryside annually for shooting and are considered a fine eating bird. The cock birds are unmistakably colouful but the females are dull in comparison and much less conspicuous.
