Beadlet Anemone in rock pools on Gyllyngvase Beach in Falmouth

These common anemones are showing their tentacles but many were resembling blobs of jelly in the rock pools at Gyllyngvase Beach in Falmouth, Cornwall.

Insight into Beadlet Anemone (Actinia equina): can be red, orange, green and brown and are found on rocky shores all around the UK. They’ve adapted to cope in the intertidal area, being able to withstand high temperatures, drying out and variable salinity.

Underwater the retractable tentacles emerge, arranged in six circles around the mouth.
