Holly Blue Butterflies at the Helford Estuary in Cornwall

with No Comments
Two Holly Blue, seen flying along a Blackthorn hedge at the bottom of a south-west facing grass field yesterday, may be the first records of this butterfly in Cornwall this spring.

Last year the first records for Cornwall were on 10 April from our garden in the Marsland Valley and another sighting from Andrew Carey on the coast path east of Polruan.

Information of first sightings has been taken from the Cornwall Butterfly Observer, a publication from Cornwall’s branch of Butterfly Conservation.
