Male Stonechat in Full Breeding Plumage at Kynance Cove

with No Comments
This adult male Stonechat was showing well in the hedge by the National Trust car park at Kynance Cove on The Lizard in Cornwall.

Insight: The male Stonechat (Saxicola torquata) in full breeding plumage is boldly marked, with an orange chest, black head and white around the sides of the neck. In contrast, in common with many bird species, the female Stonechat is less well marked. Her more subdued colours making her less obvious to predators.
