Common Chickweed (Stellaria media) at Kennack Sands on The Lizard

This example was in the fields above the car park at Kennack Sands on The Lizard in Cornwall.

Insight: Common Chickweed flowers all year and has even been found to flower and set seed under a cover of snow! It’s no wonder it is one of the UK’s commonest arable weeds as seedlings can survive all but the harshest frost, it completes its life cycle in 6 weeks and it is thought the seeds can remain viable in the ground for up to 40 years.
