Herring Gull were plundering food thrown for the ducks and geese by locals. The images show the three immature winter stages. The 2nd-winter had been watching too many Bowerbird movies, showing off a colourful leaf, but it was the 1st-winter that had the silver ring!

Insight: One of our commonest gulls it can be found both inland and around the coast. It has adapted to feed in fields and rubbish tips and has developed a liking for pasties and ice-creams.
