Even Common Gorse is a joy at this time of year when not very much else is in flower. On a bright winter’s day it can light up the scene as it does here at Godrevy Point.

Insight: There are three different gorses found in the British Isles: Common Gorse, also known as Furze, is widespread although not found in the Scottish islands, Western Gorse (Ulex gallii) which is in western (!) Britain and East Anglia and finally Dwarf Gorse (Ulex minor) which is very local in south-east England.
