| A secretive bird that depends on reed beds. There is a very small UK population with an estimated 75 breeding males according to the RSPB. There have been many more sightings during the last two severe winters due to more birds flying in from the continent and ice forcing the birds out of reed beds to hunt in more open water. | ||
