An afternoon spent searching amongst the huge expanse of sand dunes at Penhale on the North Cornish Coast was most rewarding.

As well as finding the hoped for Grizzled Skippers and Dingy Skippers we came across this pair of magnificent Emperor Moths being photographed by Dave Spencer and Paul Browning.

This sole British species of the Saturniidae silk worm family is always good to see.

To come across a pair was a real bonus. So often it is only the day flying male Emperor Moth that we see as it flies low over the moors in search of a female.
