Scottish Drinker caterpillar

with No Comments
When photos of caterpillars start arriving from some of the most remote places in the British Isles then Spring must be on its way.

Although, seeing the gale tossed Cornish sea this morning you might question it!

This post wintering Drinker moth caterpillar sighting was received from Bryony Swinfen on the Isle of Cumbrae, on the stunningly beautiful west coast of Scotland.

Bryoney is based at the new field studies council centre at Millport and involved with a project to increase their knowledge of the regions biodiversity.

This sounds a really worthwhile project and one likely to reveal some over looked and rare plants and animals.

Many thanks, Bryony and good luck with future recording.

More hairy caterpillars can be seen in hairy caterpillars and the British caterpillar gallery
